Yamilex Morales is a Puerto-Rican-American teenager from Rochester, N.Y. who celebrates her Quinceañera, a Latino coming of age tradition where a girl transitions from a young girl to a woman on her 15th birthday. Although she is excited to have her day, she is disheartened by the fact that all the male figures in her life who would have been a part of the traditions and festivities are currently incarcerated.
